Visitor information on Murcia.

Murcia is the capital of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia (Spain). It is located in the South-East of the Iberian Peninsula, bathed by the water of the Segura River. Murcia is the 7th most populated city in Spain with 430.000 inhabitants.

The fiestas of Spring and September are celebrated in a popular way in the city, together with the Holy Week traditions, which make even more interesting the visit to its Cathedral. When you walk through the old city you can still see the old medieval urban network from the Al-Andalus period. It is worth mentioning the University of Murcia (UMU) which was founded in 1272 and where there are now 38.000 students.
