Route around Cartagena - Alicante

Founded in 227 B.C. the city of Quart Hadast (Cartagena) offer magnificent ruins from its heyday as a strategic roman emplacement. Particularly recommended is its Roman theatre (1 c. B.C.) discovered in 1987. Also the first submarine, invented by Isaac Peral in 1887 at a cost of 30 Euros!!!

Directions from Torrevieja: Follow N-332 south until crossroads with F-35 (20 kms after Campoamor). Turn right onto F-35 until N-332, then right towards Los Alcazares. After 9,6 kms take unmarked National Road left towards N-332 (following for 0,8 kms then left for 1,9 kms until N-301. Follow to Cartagena.
Directions from Benidorm: Take A-7 towards Alicante and follow for 113,8 kms to exit for N-340. Take N-340 until N-301 (15,4 kms signed Murcia) and keep following for further 33 kms until exit Santa Ana. Then take N-301 (Los Dolores / San Antonio Abad) until crossroads with F-36. There take left to Cartagena.
